Searching Resumes by Skills, Location, and Experience
Tobu offers two ways to search for candidates by their skills, location, and years of experience — Simple Search and Advanced Search. This article explains how both work.
Using Simple Search
- Accessible directly on the Resume Search page. - Fields include Job Title, Skills, Location, and Years of Experience.
Skills
- Enter one or more skills in the Skills field (e.g., "Java", "Spring"). - This works as an OR filter — resumes matching **any** of the skills will be shown. - Matched keywords will be highlighted in the results.
Location
- Enter a city, state, or country. - Tobu returns candidates **currently located** in that area. - Great for quick geo-based filtering.
Experience
- Enter a range (e.g., 3 to 5 years). - Filters candidates based on total work experience extracted from the resume.
Using Advanced Search
Use this when you need stricter control or specific combinations of filters.
AND Filter
- All entered skills must be present in the resume. - Useful for must-have requirements.
NOT Filter
- Exclude candidates mentioning specific keywords (e.g., "Intern", "Fresher").
Location Radius
- Enter a base city and define a radius (e.g., 100 miles). - Tobu filters candidates within that radius using geolocation.
Example Search Use Case
- Job Title: "Backend Developer" - Skills: AND "Java", "Spring Boot" - Location: "San Jose", 50 miles radius - Experience: 4–7 years This setup returns mid-level backend developers with Java & Spring Boot experience near San Jose.
